We provide non-medical companionship and homemaker services to seniors and veterans in Pasco County, and Pinellas County, Florida.
As a Homemaker and Companion Services provider, our services are limited to non-medical support such as companionship, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and similar daily living assistance. This notice explains how we collect, protect, and handle information about the clients and families we serve.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) applies to specific organizations defined by federal law as "covered entities" — generally health plans, health care clearinghouses, and health care providers who transmit health information electronically in connection with certain billing transactions such as Medicare or Medicaid claims.
Live at Home Senior Care is a private-pay, non-medical Homemaker and Companion Services provider. We do not bill Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance companies electronically for medical services, and we do not meet the federal definition of a HIPAA covered entity. This notice is provided voluntarily to explain how we protect client information, even though federal HIPAA does not apply to our agency.
While federal HIPAA does not apply to our agency, Florida state law does impose specific confidentiality requirements on Homemaker and Companion Services providers. Under Florida Administrative Code Rule 59A-8.025(8), our agency is required to maintain a confidential client record for every individual we serve.
We take this state requirement seriously and apply the following practices:
