Serving Pasco, Pinellas & Hernando Counties, Florida

If you have been caring for a parent or spouse at home, you already know how much goes into it. Meal preparation, medication reminders, housekeeping, transportation, laundry, and emotional support. Add your own job, your own household, and your own family, and the days can blur together. Many family caregivers push through exhaustion for months or even years before asking for help. That is common, but it is not sustainable.

Respite care gives you a break. A caregiver from Live at Home Senior Care comes to your loved one’s home and handles the daily tasks you usually manage. You can rest, go to your own appointments, run errands, visit friends, or simply take a quiet afternoon to yourself. Your loved one stays in familiar surroundings with a dependable companion, and you get time to recharge without worrying.

We serve families across Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando counties. Our respite care is non-medical. We do not provide skilled nursing, medical monitoring, or clinical services. We handle the daily living tasks and companionship that surround your loved one’s routine so you can step away with confidence. If your loved one needs medical care, we can work alongside a licensed home health agency while you take your break.

    What This Care Includes

Temporary caregiver relief on your schedule

A caregiver can visit for a few hours, a full day, overnight, or on a recurring weekly schedule. You choose the times that work for your family. Some caregivers book regular Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Others need a one-time stretch for a vacation or their own medical procedure. We work around your life.

    Following established routines

Seniors often feel most comfortable when their daily patterns stay the same. Caregivers follow the routines you have already built. Breakfast at the usual time, medications at the usual hour, afternoon activities, and evening settling. Familiar patterns reduce anxiety, especially for loved ones with memory changes.

    Companionship and social engagement

Your loved one gets a friendly visitor who spends meaningful time with them. Conversation, board games, looking through photo albums, or watching a favorite show together. Having someone present keeps the day from feeling long and empty while you are away.

    Meal preparation and planning

Caregivers cook fresh meals that fit your loved one’s dietary preferences and keep them on a regular eating schedule. They can also handle grocery shopping so the kitchen stays stocked while you take your break.

    Light housekeeping

Tidying living areas, wiping kitchen and bathroom surfaces, keeping walkways clear of clutter, and handling laundry. The home stays clean and safe so you do not come back to a list of chores.

    Medication reminders

Gentle verbal prompts to take medications at the right time each day. Caregivers do not administer medications, but they help your loved one stay on schedule with friendly reminders.

    Transportation and errands

If your loved one has an appointment or needs groceries during your break, the caregiver can drive or escort them and stay by their side throughout the outing.

    Standby mobility supervision

Caregivers stand nearby as your loved one moves through the home, especially on stairs or in bathrooms. They offer verbal cues and watch for hazards. They do not provide hands-on physical support with walking or transferring.

    Pet care support

Feeding pets, refilling water bowls, and helping with basic pet care so your loved one can enjoy their animal companion without the physical strain of daily pet routines.

    Family visit updates

After each visit, the caregiver shares a summary with you. You will know how the visit went, what your loved one ate, how their mood was, and whether anything needs your attention. This keeps you connected even while you are away.

What This Care Does Not Include

Skilled nursing or any nursing services
Medication administration (we provide verbal reminders only)
Bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, or incontinence care
Hands-on physical transfers, lifting, or manual walking assistance
Wound care, injections, vitals monitoring, or any clinical task
Physical therapy, occupational therapy, or rehabilitation exercises
Medical assessments, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind

If your loved one needs skilled nursing, medication administration, or clinical care, we can refer you to a licensed home health agency and continue providing non-medical support alongside their medical team.

    How It Works

    Free in-home consultation

We start with a free visit to your loved one’s home. We listen to your concerns, learn about daily routines, and talk through what kind of respite support would help most. There is no obligation and no pressure to commit.

    Personalized care plan

Based on what we learn, we put together a simple plan that outlines what the caregiver will do during each respite visit. Meals, housekeeping, transportation, companionship, medication reminders, or whatever your loved one needs.

    Caregiver matching

We match your loved one with a caregiver whose personality and approach fit well. Consistency matters, so we aim to send the same caregiver for regular respite visits whenever possible.

    Flexible scheduling

Respite visits can be scheduled for a few hours, a full day, overnight, or on a recurring weekly basis. We adjust the schedule as your needs change over time.

    Family updates after each visit

After every respite visit, the caregiver shares a brief summary with you. You will know how the visit went, what happened, and whether anything needs your attention.
